It’s always great hearing positive feedback, especially so after a workshop or a talk as a lot of effort goes into preparing for such activities. MGPalaeo and associates recently ran a PESA WA 1 day biostratigraphic workshop that was aimed at helping those in the oil and gas industry better understand the application and benefits of biostratigraphy. The workshop was followed by a talk on Triassic palynology, and it was great to see a short write up on both in the latest PESA News.

Enlightening lunches, tasty talks, captivating courses

The WA branch was a hive of activity of the past two months with workshops, technical lunches and historical commemorations all drawing great crowds.

On July 14 the branch hosted a biostratigraphy workshop provided by Amely, Allgower, Adam Charles (MGPalaeo), Richard Howe (independent consultant) and Daniel Peyrot (Woodside-Chevron professorship in Palynology – UWA). The workshop was very well attended with 32 registered people and featured a day of biostratigraphy concepts with practical exercise from different WA Basins.

Evening Talk

On the same day and continuing with the biostratigraphy theme, Daniel Mantle from MGPalaeo delivered an evening talk entitled, ‘Palynological insights to the Triassic of the Northern Carnarvon Basin,’ which was very well attended with 60 members registering.

“The WA Branch is very encouraged by the positive response of our members, and we thank the instructors for their time. The WA Branch is committed to continuing organising these types of events at reasonable prices for all members to have access, in particular, the ones affected by the current downturn, this type of events help people to keep the skills set and provide motivation,” the branch said.

MGPalaeo would like to thank everyone who attended and helped to make the course and talk a success, with a big thank you to PESA WA for all their hard work and support. And building on from this success, MGPalaeo will be running more talks, courses and workshops in the future, with one particularly exciting announcement coming soon…
